Trimming the Tree?

I love decorating the tree - I mean LOVE it.  Too bad no one else in my family does.  Sooo...every year I get the obligatory photo:

Brayden likes it so much - he decorates the BACK of the tree.

He is celebrating Movember to its fullest - I hope he knows tomorrow is December 1st!

My nephew Connor found this ornament for me years ago - it was  the sweetest gesture, he remembered that it matched my other ornaments!!!

My dog, on the other hand, didn't know how special it was to me...she chewed it up (shhhh...don't tell Connor).

My mom gave me all of her ornaments about 15 years ago (maybe more).  I decorate the tree the same every year.  I LOVE the ornaments that she gave me.  They are so beautiful!  This is a spray starched hand sewn/knit/crocheted (which is it?) bell.  So pretty!

You can guess who this ornament belongs to...
I have no idea where this one came from...but I love it!!!

I think my mom fashioned this tree topper - Two love birds :)

Something I threw together with some leftover ornaments...

 Finished product!!!!!

Isn't this the cutest stocking?  Thank you to my mom again :)

Fisher lost a very special substitute teacher, Mrs. Ferguson recently.  When I was going through the ornaments I found this ornament that she had made him - he loved Red Cardinals.  So precious!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Gobble Gobble!

It's Thanksgiving!  I remember when my husband and I made our first turkey together - we got up really early in the morning and starting cooking the turkey because that's what our parents used to do.  The house would smell so good!  I also remember the turkey being done at 10:30 in the morning and us looking at each other like....huh?  Why DID our parent get up so early to make the turkey when it only take 3-4 hours?   Just for the house smell?  I remember it still being hot, so maybe they cooked it on warm?  John and I  didn't cook our first turkey together until we were about 15 years in.  Every year someone else was the turkey maker.  I appreciate all of the people that have cooked for us through the years (my sister-in-law Marilyn doing the majority of it).  This will be one of those years I can just relax!  I'm so thankful!

Thanksgiving Eve

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and my husband won't be here. Funny thing is, when he is here, Thanksgiving is a 2 hour holiday.  He cooks, I bake, we eat, then we are done. He sits and watches Football. I sit and watch the computer.  Or my fingers typing on the computer.  Or me talking to the computer because I'm annoyed with things written on the computer. This is not a tradition, unless you count doing the same thing everyday a tradition.  Isn't it so funny how much more you notice things when they are gone? He'll be home 4 days later.  I'm sure we can reenact this special day...
